Sustainability in the operation of the electrical systems for Zurich is of great importance to the Swiss utility "ewz Netze". Together with the Pfiffner Group, ewz plans to retrofit the MV switchgear in the Irchel substation. Various components in the switchgear panel will be replaced and implemented in the existing infrastructure. This retrofit will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the substation in the long term. Pfiffner and ewz are now starting with a pilot field to verify the technical feasibility in practice.
