Hager solution for EN 61439-5 PENDA-I

EN 61439-5:2015 has been binding for panel assemblies in public distribution networks since 1 March 2016. The standard covers low-voltage distributor panels in public energy distribution networks, terminals and cable distribution boards for electrical distribution in 3-phase systems up to 1000 V.

The EN 61439-5:2015 standard distinguishes between:

  • PENDA-I Indoor Public Electricity Network Distribution Assemblies
  • PENDA-O Outdoor Public Electricity Network Distribution Assemblies

EN 61439-5 defines the following specific exceptions compared with EN 61439-2:

  • Evidence can only be provided through testing
  • The systems are designed for stationary operation
  • A distinction is made between indoor and outdoor installation (PENDA-I and PENDA-O)

Proven platform as a basis

Hager’s unimes P solution consists of the proven unimes control cabinet range. The cabinets are subdivided into functional spaces (infeed, outlet and multipurpose space). The system configurations were designed and tested to comply with EN 61439-5. Alongside the unimes control cabinets, the range also comprises weber.vertigroup fuse switches, HA load-break switches and Tempower 2 ACB circuit breakers.

The adapted, compact single, combi-rack and control cabinet system for installation in transformer stations for public networks complies with the EN61439-5 standard and is configured for rated currents of 910 A - 2000 A. Control cabinet manufacturers will be particularly interested in the high value added that can be achieved.
