245 kV Pressurized Air Cable: Test Installation in the Tunnel at Brünig Indoor

Hivoduct presents innovative high-voltage pressurized air cables in the entrance tunnel of the Brünig Indoor Sports Center. This technology uses pressurized air instead of solid insulation materials, offering a compact, lightweight, and environmentally friendly solution for energy transmission.

Hivoduct presents its innovative high-voltage pressurized air cables in the entrance tunnel of the Brünig Indoor Sports Center. This state-of-the-art technology is revolutionizing electrical energy transmission in medium- and high-voltage applications by using pressurized air as an insulation medium. Unlike conventional cables that rely on solid insulation material or oil, pressurized air cables use pressurized air in an aluminum tube to ensure reliable and efficient electrical insulation. The result? A compact, lightweight, and environmentally friendly solution that is perfect for demanding applications and environments.

Our 30-meter-long installation impressively demonstrates how 245 kV compressed air cables with a transmission capacity of 1600 MW can be installed in existing tunnels. With their low losses and robust metallic casing, they are ideal for tunnel installations, where space constraints, ventilation, and fire safety are key factors. Pressurized air cables reduce the risk of fires by eliminating flammable materials and offer easier maintenance due to their modular design.

The pressurized air cable installation is available for viewing during opening hours. Guided tours by Hivoduct are available upon request at info@hivoduct.com.

Visit us at Brünig Indoor and experience firsthand how this technology is supporting the energy transition – sustainable, efficient, and ready for the future!
