Electrical distribution made easy: Greater flexibility thanks to modern plug-in socket systems

Planners, panel builders and installation engineers are now confronted with demanding schedules and stricter requirements. Electrical distribution plays a key role as to the commissioning date: these days it must be adaptable, flexible and safe. And that's exactly what the new uniway system enables.

When it comes to the installation of panels, flexibility, adaptability and ease of assembly have gained enormously in importance over the last few years. Today's construction industry demands that electrical installers adapt the electrical distribution system to the individual requirements of the building quickly and to a high technical standard. That makes rigid profiles with complex installation technology a thing of the past – the future belongs to flexible and demand-driven plug-in socket systems that make optimum use of the available space and allow work to continue load-free in live operation without the need for personal protective equipment.

Plug-in socket systems with optimum utilisation of space

The uniway plug-in socket system from Hager meets the requirements on optimising the component density in electrical distributors through an advanced 9-mm grid structure that allows optimum utilisation of the available space. This means that neutral separators and auxiliary contacts, for instance, can be integrated into the system without any loss of space. Since the system has been configured for three different rated currents (125 A, 160 A and 250 A), the busbar can be adapted to suit the requirements of the particular situation. Thanks to the patented PE contacts of the protective conductor terminals, moreover, the uniway five-conductor system only needs four busbars.

Flexible and adaptable

Last-minute changes during the planning phase – or even right in the middle of construction – are not uncommon in the energy distribution sector. Both in newbuild projects and for changes of use, therefore, the key to flexible, demand-driven installation lies in having a versatile and adaptable plug-in socket system. That’s why planners, panel builders and installation engineers value Hager’s uniway solution first and foremost for the ease of system integration. Adapters permit the installation of nearly all components to be found on a DIN rail.

The solution becomes particularly elegant when combined with modular devices from Hager that have the practical quickconnect or Bi-Connect interfaces for comb busbars. Configured for 80 A, the specially developed adapter is a real jack of all trades. Meanwhile, the 100 A universal adapter enables the integration of further applications such as direct infeeding via load-break switch, DIN energy meters or network transfer switches.

Fast and safe electrical installation

The uniway plug-in socket system manages the balancing act between speed and occupational safety through complete IP2X contact protection, meaning that electricians are no longer compelled to use personal protective equipment when carrying out load-free retrofitting activities or dismantling live components. The benefits are obvious: maximum safety alongside highly efficient working practices.

The uniway plug-in socket system has been certified with the S+ Swiss safety mark by the Federal Inspectorate for Heavy Current Installations (ESTI).
