Nynas high-quality transformer fluid from the circular economy
Nynas is setting new standards in the circular economy: learn more about the first high-quality, circular transformer oil that combines performance and sustainability.
Reduce greenhouse gas by 70% with RR900 X
Over its lifetime, NYTRO® RR 900X offers a greenhouse gas emission reduction of at least 70% compared to a virgin transformer oil. NYTRO RR 900X is a premium circular transformer oil based on high-performance and effective re-refining technology. By recovering and reusing oil from electrical equipment that has reached the end of its life, it contributes to sustainable development. NYTRO RR 900X ensures excellent performance and meets the most demanding quality standards.
Lowering transformer temperature with Bio 300 X
The efficient use of electricity is becoming increasingly important. The use of low-viscosity insulating oils from Nynas is one way to reduce energy losses in the power system. Tests have shown that NYTRO BIO 300X achieves a transformer temperature approximately 10 °C lower compared to identical transformers using conventional transformer oils at the same power output.
100% Renewable
The bio-based and renewable NYTRO BIO 300X is a premium transformer fluid. It consists of virtually 100% bio-based hydrocarbons and offers best-in-class cooling performance combined with an exceptionally low carbon footprint. Like all other Nynas transformer fluids, it is fully recyclable through re-refining at the end of its life cycle.
Modern Refinery
Nynas' Nynäshamn refinery was the first refinery in the world to be operated primarily on biofuel. Thanks to this and a series of other environment-oriented investments and improvements, it has been possible to reduce the refinery's carbon dioxide emissions by more than one hundred thousand tonnes per year despite increasing production.
These efforts include:
- The amount of steam loss is drastically reduced, from 37,017 tonnes in 2010 to 2,611 tonnes in 2022.
- The switch from oil and electricity to biofuel and waste heat recovery leads to an annual reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of 35,000–60,000 tonnes.
- Recovery of residual heat from the refinery, which is used for the region's district heating network. The residual heat corresponds to 35 GWh and is sufficient to heat 1,750 homes per year.
- Installation of a new water plant that reduces water consumption in the refinery by around 120,000 tonnes per year and has also provided clean water for district heating production.
