Scalable, Grid-Serving Solutions in Low Voltage - A Field Report
The digitalization of the low-voltage level is the key to the individual use of flexibilities in order to guarantee stable networks in the future. Using examples of grid operator projects, we show how this can succeed on a large scale for the benefit of all stakeholders involved.
The digitalization of low voltage makes flexibilities usable where they physically take effect. In Switzerland, Day-Ahead APIs for EMS systems already provide excellent conditions for promoting grid-serving behavior. Furthermore, gridoo offers solutions allowing quarter-hourly power limits, separated by feed-in and consumption, to be transmitted to grid connection points. Within these limits, the EMS optimizes the available flexibilities. The architecture is scalable to millions of grid connection points, running locally for the end user and within secure grid operator IT. This ensures that grid responsibility is clearly separated from market-side optimization.
