Green-Y: Pilotproject at SIPBB

Green-Y realizes a pilot project in cooperation with the Swiss Battery Technology Center and the Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne in their newly constructed office building.

The successful implementation of the Federal Government's Energy Strategy 2050 requires electricity storages and heat and cold coming from renewables. Green-Y provides a unique approach here, combining the storage of electricity and generation of thermal energy in one device.

The aim of the project is to realise a pilot plant at the SIPBB. Green-Y is a compressed air energy storage system (CAES) that can store electricity and generate renewable heat and cold with only air and water. The patented approach significantly increases the efficiency of the complete system and is developed in a partnership with the FHNW. Several SDGs are addressed by reducing costs and emissions of the building.
