Power Supply in Transition: What the System Needs Now – REGULATION
The Swiss power supply is under significant pressure: PV surpluses, challenging forecasts, and stringent regulatory requirements are colliding with a rising need for investment. The VSE Technical Forum will discuss the realities of the system, political guidelines, and concrete responsibilities for ensuring a secure energy future.
Switzerland’s power supply is undergoing a profound transformation. Political objectives, increasing electrification, and the rapid expansion of renewable energies are fundamentally changing the demands on the power system. At the same time, volatility, system complexity, and investment pressure on grids and production are noticeably increasing.
The VSE Technical Forum examines these challenges from various perspectives: System operations highlight where PV surpluses and forecast uncertainties push the limits. Regulatory oversight clarifies the existing leeway within regulations – and where adjustments are necessary to ensure stability and efficiency. Energy policy sets the guidelines for the ongoing transformation of the system. And in practical implementation, it becomes evident how closely regulation, innovation, and investment must align in the daily work of distribution grid operators and installers.
At the core of the discussion is the question of responsibility: What measures are urgently needed to guarantee long-term security of supply, sustainability, and affordability – and who must take action? Politics, authorities, the industry, and society are equally called upon to contribute. The panel will consolidate these perspectives and highlight where joint action is most urgently required.
