The third day of Powertage 2024 focussed on transformation and collaboration. Exciting keynotes and practical examples shed light on the path to a climate-friendly future. Experts offered valuable insights into innovative energy systems and Alpine solar projects.
The third day of Powertage 2024 on 6 June was all about transformation and collaboration. The participants experienced inspiring insights into shaping a climate-friendly future, starting with the keynote speech by Jörg Metelmann, a renowned transformation researcher. Under the title "The Power of Imagineering - an approach to shaping the future", he presented new perspectives and views on transformation.
This was followed by an inspiring keynote speech by Jörg Metelmann on the need for cultural change towards a climate-friendly future. In the subsequent panel, Franziska Barmettler from IKEA Switzerland, Alexander Keberle from economiesuisse and Alena Weibel from Axpo discussed the challenges of the energy transition and shared their experiences and insights. Moderated by Jonas Projer, the day offered valuable insights and perspectives on the future design of the energy system.
In a best practice session, three examples were presented that demonstrated the transformation of the Swiss energy system in practice. The focus here was on the success factors that are relevant for successful implementation. The presentation by EMPA, which is modelling the energy and CO2 flows of the Graubünden Rhine Valley on behalf of the canton of Graubünden and seven major industrial partners, was particularly impressive. This unique project was presented to an expert audience for the first time.
Gerhard Salge, CTO of Hitachi Energy, used specific project examples to show how innovative, digital power grid technologies can contribute to a sustainable power supply system. The planning of alpine solar plants, such as Alpiq's Gondosolar project, was also discussed. It became clear that a sustainable energy system without these systems is difficult to imagine, even if they meet with mixed reactions.
The programme was rounded off with an energetic show by "The Blackouts", which combined music, dance, acrobatics and innovative lighting effects. The Power Days 2024 once again set new standards on the third day and offered participants a wealth of information and inspiration for the sustainable transformation of the energy sector.
