Electricity industry in transition: Powertage 2026 showcases solutions for the electricity system of tomorrow
Powertage 2026 underscores its role as the leading Swiss platform for the electricity industry. From June 16 to 18, 2026, over 140 exhibitors from Switzerland and abroad will present innovative solutions for the energy supply of the future in Zurich. In light of growing demands for supply security, decarbonization, and digitalization, Powertage places current challenges and concrete solution approaches for a sustainable, resilient, and future-proof electricity system at the center.
The Swiss electricity industry is facing profound change. Global crises, rising demands for supply security, new regulatory frameworks, and technological developments increase the pressure to act – but also open up opportunities for the industry. At the same time, energy policy decisions shape the future of the sector: The implementation of the Electricity Act, discussions on the further development of the electricity market, and the prospect of an electricity agreement with the European Union are bringing issues of supply security, market integration, and investment security increasingly into focus. For the industry, this means consistently driving forward the expansion of renewable energies, the modernization of grid infrastructure, and the use of new flexibility and storage solutions.
Powertage 2026 offers a central meeting point for this and creates space for exchange, orientation, and concrete solution approaches. “The Swiss electricity industry is at a decisive point: supply security, digitalization, and the expansion of renewable energies must be considered together. Powertage brings together the actors who are concretely driving this transformation – from grid operators and technology providers to research, regulation, and politics,” says Corinne Thirion, Exhibition Director of Powertage.
In halls 3 and 4, the entire breadth of the electricity industry is represented. National energy service providers are present as well as leading industrial companies, technology and IT providers, as well as educational and research institutions. Products, services, and projects along the entire value chain are showcased – from energy generation and storage to grid infrastructure, trading and distribution, through to metering and meter management, information technology, and operational technology.
A particular focus is on renewable energies and their role for a stable electricity supply of the future. New impulses are provided not only by the Powertage Forum but also by the newly presented “Wind Energy Switzerland” theme area, which is being realized in collaboration with Suisse Eole. It highlights potentials, discusses regulatory hurdles, and identifies areas for action. Educational institutions present current research projects as well as training and further education offerings for an industry that is undergoing strong technological, economic, and societal change. With over 140 exhibitors, Powertage 2026 underscores its importance as the leading networking platform of the Swiss electricity industry – and as a place where the energy future becomes concretely visible.

The Powertage Forum complements the exhibition with high-profile lectures and discussions on the most pressing questions of the Swiss electricity industry. Experts from politics, regulation, grid operation, energy industry, and technology present perspectives and solution approaches for the transformation of the energy system.
Tuesday, June 16, on REGULATION: Power Supply in Transition: What the System Needs Now
The first forum day focuses on energy policy and regulatory framework conditions. Benoît Revaz (Swiss Federal Office of Energy), Urs Meister (ElCom), Bastien Grand (Swissgrid), and Martin Pflugshaupt (VSE/DSV) discuss current challenges and the prerequisites for a secure, affordable, and sustainable electricity supply. In the subsequent panel discussion, the speakers discuss together with Nadine Brauchli (VSE) which concrete measures are necessary.
Wednesday, June 17, on TECHNOLOGY: Current Challenges for Power Grids: PV Surplus, Prosumers, and AI
The focus is on technological innovations, digitalization, and the increasing complexity of grid operation. Speakers such as Dieter Maurer (Siemens Switzerland Ltd.) and Gian Paolo Lardi (Repower) present practical solutions based on concrete projects. In the subsequent panel, representatives from Swissgrid, AET, Groupe E, and EWZ discuss the future of an intelligent and resilient electricity grid.
Thursday, June 18, on TRANSFORMATION: Accelerating the Energy Transition: Success Factors in Practice
The final day is dedicated to successful implementation projects from wind, hydro, and solar energy. Werner Jauch (energieUri), Fernando Binder (fmb-ingenieure.ch), and Christian Haueter (Morgeten Solar AG) show, together with representatives of the associations, based on concrete projects, which factors accelerate energy projects and how the energy transition can be successfully implemented in practice. In the panel, representatives from wind, hydro, and solar energy discuss with Isabelle Stadelmann how we can actually accelerate the energy transition based on the learnings.
After the Forum, Hall 4 becomes a hotspot for new ideas and concrete applications: In the Speakers Corner, exhibitors and partners will present exciting insights into trends and technologies of the electricity industry in compact short lectures and in direct dialogue with moderator Giulia Staub and the audience. Powertage is rounded off by further events such as the Energy Data Working Group (June 16), the event on the topic Wind Energy! Implement Now – We Show You How! (June 16), the Powerparty (June 17), as well as the Guided Tour by European Power Network (June 18).
