How do we solve the trade-offs?
In order to meet its energy and climate targets, Switzerland needs a massive expansion of domestic production from renewable energies. To meet the increasing electricity demand due to the decarbonisation of the transport and heating sectors, this expansion of solar and wind power must take place as soon as possible. How can we speed up the necessary procedures? And yet how can we ensure that each project balances its interests between protection and benefits in order to increase the chances of acceptance?

How do we speed up the transformation of energy networks?
The expansion of winter production – especially with hydropower, alpine photovoltaics and wind power – is crucial in order to reduce the risk of possible shortages during the cold season and to reduce Switzerland's dependence on electricity imports from other European countries. How will we succeed in expanding and modernising the Swiss network at all levels? And how will we create the necessary accelerated procedures and clear framework conditions?

Energy supply is becoming increasingly decentralised and therefore more complex. To manage this increasing complexity and ensure system stability, we need digital technologies. The new ways of collecting data offer many new opportunities for energy suppliers. How do we manage to use machine learning and AI applications as tools to make the power supply even more secure or to optimise electricity trading?

How do we combine the strengths of the generations?
The transformation of the energy system is not only taking place at the technological level, but also affects professionals in the energy sector to a considerable extent. Modern technologies require new skills among young professionals. In order to be able to meet these needs, education and training must be updated accordingly. At the same time, however, the know-how and vast experience of the experts of many years are also in demand. How do we manage to support the necessary intergenerational exchange?
